You can get the MSD ready to run small cap distributor for less than $250 and not need the external box. That is what I have in my Jimmy. But for a 2 wheel drive truck, I would run the big cap performance HEI which has a high output coil and a module with increased dwell. Jegs has theirs on sale right now for $99. Complete with cap and rotor. I was going to order one for my '86 K3500 dually, but had an offer from Eastwood with 15% off order and free shipping. This appears to be the same as the performance Jegs distributor and was $85. Any of these will have sufficient spark output to 6500 rpm. But it's your money...
