You are going to have to do a lot of cutting and hacking on the metal under the dash. That can be very difficult with the windshield in place. That is a lot of work for a far from ideal speaker arrangement.
You can buy a pair for 3.5" speakers for the dash corners for around $30-$40 if you are on a budget. These will bolt right in, they are placed well, and they create a nice sound stage up front.
You could use both the 6.5's and 6x9's behind the seat. Use the head unit to power the 3.5's and and 6.5's, then use an inexpensive amp to power the 6x9's. 6x9's sound A LOT better when powered with a separate amp. They just require more power than a head unit can put out.
Either way, a set of 3.5's for the dash corners would be well placed, simple to install, and won't break the bank.
