I'll second that. Since your truck has already been "worked on" there's no telling where all the parts came from to make your present system work. If you can't afford or find a complete set just be aware you may have some surprises along the way. It's all part of the fun. So long as you stick with 67-72 parts you'll probably be OK.
FWIW, I love my SM 465 and I drag race with it just fine. Yeah that's right I drag race with it. But I've had years of practice shifting SM 465 tranny's so it's second nature to me.
The biggest complaint people have with the SM 465 is the sloppy shifter. Lots of people on the forum, myself included, have made the "Curing the SM465 Sloppy Shifter" repair
here. It won't make it a sport car manual but it is still a night and day improvement.
