Found the channel goes to the BACK of the glass.
Now I'm worried about how tight (or not) it will fit in the channel with just 3m sealant. It had a rubber channel in there when I took it out, but it was so hard and crumbled I doubt it was doing much. I removed all of it. I don;t see it offered for sale on any of the sites so I'm going to assume the weatherstrip adhesive is suffucient.
