When I was in high school, (yea, we road in covered wagons back then) if you didn't have a feeler gauge set with you, and wanted to check point gap. Use a match book cover. Single thickness was for points, and double thickness was for plugs. Worked good enough to get you out of a pinch. Just my $.02 .
