If anything had been modified by the previous owners of my truck, I'd have made the cut. Since it was still pretty much bone stock looking, I've kept that appearance. But I like current conveniences and technology, so the new 350 and 5 speed are in, with HEI and anyhting else I need to make it a reliable everyday truck. If I hadn't found a custom autosound USA-6 at the Portland swap meet for $45, I wouldn't have one. They are too proud of their product.
That being said, it's your damn truck. The General got his money decades ago. If it feels right - go for it.
