So I have dropped the tranny out of the way and upon inspection I can see the ring gear isn't totally hooped. I will probably replace it seeing as I can do so easily now. I am running a 12.75 inch flywheel. It is from an internally balanced 305. I purchased a weight that is attachedto a plate that is sandwiched between the flywheel and the crank flange. The plate the weight is on has moved the flywheel away from the starter a little. Is this repositioning of the flywheel slightly back from the starter causing my problem? The problem being the starer sounds like it can't turn the crank over once in a while but always turns through, speeds up and starts.
