FWIW, I have 4.10s behind the SM420 in my '67. It'll do 65-70 no problem but that's at about 3200 RPM. Gas mileage is laughable at that speed, but hey, it's neat to watch people give me a wide berth I roar down the road.

I like my creeper gear in traffic too. The Caprice likes to surge ahead in stop-and-go traffic, but the truck idles along in first. I barely have to touch the clutch.

Definitely keep the 4spd.
