If you want to do it original. It was screwed to the panel below the rear window. Most people glue the cardboard to the tank then glur the carpet to the cardboard. Gives it a smoother finish to the carpet if done that way. Then at the top you can fold it over the top of the cardboard and you will not see a edge. Most of the new gas tank carpets have clips across the top to go over the cardboard. If you use these you will sometimes see the edge of the carpet. So I will raise the carpet a little higher and fold it over the cardboard then push it back under the lip so it fits tight. Hope this is understandable. I do not have a picture at this time of it.
