Re: Hello from Kansas
Thanks JR.
I've been an admirer of the Chevy pick-ups as long as I can remember.
I recently took an early retirement and had just enough money to buy
an inexpensive truck so I could haul supplies and make trips to the dump.
I searched for several weeks. I was kinda hoping to find around a 50 model, but the 70 model was close by and only $3800.
It had straight pipes on it and looked beautiful.
I got so excited that I forgot to test drive it.
Now I have a total of $5K in it, and that includes the new glass packs, the floor mat and new Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor tires.
I put 265/75R15's on the back and 235/75R15's on the front.
My thinking was I needed better traction and durability for driving on back roads.
With the 275/60r15's it came with I got stuck in my field on level ground.
The higher aspect ratio of the 75 series tires precluded putting 265's on the front.
The new tires are 2 days old and now I see people running 20's, so I'm thinking I might have been a bit hasty. Hah!
Those tall sidewalls really make it move around on the highway.
Say ... you wouldn't happen to be my buddy Jeff from Goodyear would you?
