completely agree with lolife !!!! I have heard of some very unsafe ways to remove and install coil springs. The only way I will install a coil spring is with a very good spring compressor. If you have access to a torch, you could heat/cut the old springs to the point that there is not any pressure on them. The fact that you are installing a taller spring will make the install tougher without a compressor.
