That would only work on a four lug wheel. The "bolt circle" is measured from one side of the "circle" that runs directly through the center of all the bolt holes on the wheel, whether its 4 lug or 12 lug.

If the wheels came off of a Chevy car, they are 5x4.75" most likely. You can actually measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the next bolt hole and calculate the diameter of the bolt circle that way. Take that measurement, we'll call it "BC", and do this simple calculation...BC/.588, and you should get the Bolt Pattern.
