Yup, I'm just about to try the same thing. The bottom of my poly tank sits about 4" off the ground when I dump the air out of my bags. I'm leaning toward some heavy gauge (14 or 12) aluminum because 1) It's a little easier to work with and 2) I'm concerned about steel dragging on the ground and <maybe> sending out a shower of sparks

No, I haven't got around to pricing it, but I'll bet it ain't cheap.....
