You don't need to split the line on the manifold. Which carb are you running? Edelbrocks, Holley's and Quadrajets all have a manifold vacuum port. Let me know which it is and I'll dig up a picture and put an arrow on it. Splittling the vacuum on the manifold will of course work too...
