I used my '70 GMC 2500 with 402 and TH400 to pull my 18' steel deck car hauler all the time. It towed great and got about 10 mpg, with the AC blowing cold, which I thought was pretty fair. Only reason I sold it was because with my son we didn't all fit anymore. Would love to have it back...
