Just from what you have stated about the 74, I would think that the 454 in the 74 with heads and a cam would be a waste of time with the 4spd if you are looking for performance(fast truck). Now if you are looking for a truck to haul stuff with then the 454 would make sense, but if performance is what you are after then you might want to just leave them as they are.
