My dad's 69 4x came with a wrap around bumper. If I remember the "wings" were screwed to the bed side which he disconnected, said it didn't make sense to bump a bumper and dent a body panel. Then he had problems with brush getting caught between the bumper and bed side. Guess you can't win.

Just wanted to add he bought the truck new in Albuquerque, New Mexico so I guess it is an out west thing.
