Certainly the 73-87 trucks are more car-like. And it's easier to find car-like features such as cruise control, power windows, etc. And, if you're a fan of GM electronics (which I'm not), 73-87 are the only years to get GM Fuel Injection.
For me the biggest drawback to them (except for the fact that they steer like aircraft carriers) is that there are so many newer ones still on the road, that my '75 I just restored is nothing more than "an old truck." Maybe in another 10 years they'll reach collectors status.
