i rented a 06 silverado 4x4 "club cab?" shortbed with the 5.3 before i got my present truck and got just around 20mpg on the highway. Which i thought was pretty good considering the weight and 4x4.

a) i didn't exceed 65mph.

b) This is one more vote towards getting a new truck. The other being multiple air bags.
