You can go as fast in 4lo as your motor can handle.It just revs up there quicker.I drive 3,000 rpm down the hiway everyday.

Driving on dry pavement puts more stress on things due to no slippage.If you hit the throttle hard with the front wheels turned sharp could easily find the weak link and break something in the front end.Doing the same going straight isn`t doing the drivetrain any favors from front to back.You can drive all day long on dry roads in 4wd and not hurt a thing.It depends on if you put unreasonable stress on the drivetrain.
