Since the front suspension is "tired", I would go ahead and upgrade to disc brakes while rebuilding everything.

Is the 72 CST a Chevy or GMC? If it's a Chevy, it may have a coil spring rear, which you could change out, which would make it easier and cheaper to lower.

That's a nice looking starter truck for sure. What is the canister next to the master cylinder? Is that an external oil filter?
