just a quick hijack...but with a little engineering I think it could be done...especially with that porterbuilt style cowl hinge...
you would just have to set it up so that the hood moves out and up immediately when you open it so that the rear lower corner of the hood dosen't drag on the fender...
I have always wanted to do a hood that way too, I guess really trick, you could mold the cowl vent on and do hideaway wipers too...
another option would be like a 48 buick, where the hood opens from either side, I think they had a hinge on either side of the hood, and the whole thing raised sideways depending which side of the car you were on.
