In California it's called "exhibition of speed". A term I first learned about in high school in the 60’s. It's known as a violation of Vehicle Code 23109(c):

I found it much easier to rebuild the front end before it went into the truck since everything is completely accessible. I just used a spring compressor on the springs. I bought mine, but many parts stores rent them. And I bought all the replacement parts from the local Napa store. Everything needed is commonly available. If you're on a short budget (who isn't), I'd suggest doing an internet search for the specific parts you need. I've bought a lot of parts from AutoPartsWarehouse.com (and other places I can't remember) that ended up much cheaper than local, even after adding in the shipping.
