Re: How to remove leafs?

i replaced my leaf springs on my 77 about a month ago. the first thing my wife and i did was pre-soak all the bolts/nuts with wd-40. the leaf spring mounts on the hanger and mounts on the shackle. soak both of those like 2 days before you start. i jacked my truck up on jack stands. with the frame supported on the stands, i use the jack to support the weight of the diff. that way i could raise or lower it to get the tension off the bolts. after i did those two main bolts i focused on the u-bolts that hold the diff on the leafs. have those soaked down in advance too. although most people say to cut the bracket, i found it just as easy to unbolt it. good luck. taking it out was the easy part for us. installing the new one was a royal PITA.
