I've got an 86 K30 6.2 and I get about 16-18 mpg. I just use it as a farm truck, it's got 4.10 gears and an SM465 tranny. The glow plug controller is bad on mine, I've got a push-button wired up on the dash to make them cycle. I would think that a 305 may have more power.
