I know that there are a lot of guys doing the S-10 swap (I'm not telling you to) with that in mind I did mine and got a frame that was long. So I had to cut the frame down and weld and plate the frame. I also know that I'm not the only one doing that. If done properly it should be just fine. With good penetration, solid welds, and a properly welded on plate you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Looking at the crack it goes into the rivet. The rivet hole should stop the crack from spreading and like I said weld and plate it and you'll be good to go.
