Why do you say the fuel pump is gone? Im having an issue with mine in that it gets vapor lock. Not because of the fuel filter but because its so damn hot outside (100 plus today) combined with the intake temps Im boiling the gas inside the carb causing a vapor lock in my line from the pump to the carb. Im going to pick up a carb spacer tomorrow and that should finally solve my problem. I have a stock intake and a rochester carb. It has a small plastic spacer but its like only a 1/4 inch thick.
