I found the code but apparently it is not original to the truck either.
It was stamped:
K 048
It was located right where everyone else found theirs...passenger side axel tube, facing the cab. I have the coil spring rear...so if anyone else has one like this, and is looking for the stamping,...check right in front of the shock absorber. At least that's where I found my code located..
I did a Yahoo search on GM 12 bolt ID's but so far have not figured it out.
Looks like I'll have to pull the cover and check the numbers on the ring gear to find out for sure what's inside...or jack it up and do a rough 'guesstimate' by turning the wheel and counting driveshaft revolutions.
I did learn that 12 bolts come in both 'open' and 'posi-trac' configurations though..so all the searching bore a little fruit..hehehehe.
If anyone knows where to steer me towards finding out explaination of this code I'd appreciate the info.
