I got the cheapest relay/temp controller that Jegs had. I think it is "Perma-Cool" brand. It features a temp probe that slides into the radiator fins. It can control/power two fans up to 20amps. I use it for two 12"ers and wired the AC turn on to a switch with ignition hot so I can manually turn on the fans when I want.
Pros:
Complete kit.
Can power two fans.
Has an AC turn on wire
Cons:
All the wires, including the temp probe, are hard wired to the controller. This makes installation way more of a pain and the temp probe wire is pretty short, limiting how far from the rad you can mount the relay.
No variable speed/soft start. (Some $200 controllers feature this)
I don't like the external temp probe. Next summer I want to run an actual rad coolant temp sensor but since the probe is hard wired I think I need a whole new unit.
