steering is sloppy

so yesterday, i was driving my truck and it seemed diffrent to me. the steering wasnt as responsive as usual. and as i drove it more, going straight down the road the wheel was upside down. so today im gonna see about tightening up the steering gear box (power steering). anything else i should look for? im sure the box needs replaced but i dont have the money at the moment.. just tryin to get as much out of it as i can
