If the noise sounds like it is from the column, then it is probably upper (or possably lower) column bearings. No idea how to fix it other than a van tilt. (I've takena couple columns apart, but they are liek quadrajet carbs in that parts fly all over the driveway when they come apart)
If you think the noise/feeling may be from under the truck, check your ball joints ASAP. I have found they like to make a bit of noise right before they let go of the spindle. That is no fun...take my word for it.
