It really depends on you're wheel/tire size. If your running 15" wheels with short tires it may be pushing it. You have to consider "scrubline", which is the height that the truck would sit if you got a flat tire. If the block is so thick that it makes the trailing arm sit below the lip of the wheel and you were driving and got a flat that means your trailing arm and ubolts would be dragging the ground. This would make a bad situation (flat tire) even worse as you were sliding down the road. However if you have a taller wheel 18+" with taller tire you can get away with more because your scrubline is greater/lower. I know it is regular practice to use a 2" block and I have seen some use 3". It just depends on what wheels/tires you're running.
