If you are leaving it primer and it will see any weather, use a 2K urethane primer. It seals well and is tintable to your color. If you are on a tigh budget (and who isn't these days) don't be afraid of the store brand. We use alot of Parts Master primers now in our hobby shop. Also, please note that all laquer based primers will allow moisture to pass and will rust under the primer. Alot of people think that the red primer doesn't allow this to happen, but it does. The rust just happens to match the color of the primer.
