Trim levels varied from year to year but 'll use 71/72 as the basic example:

Custom - This was the base level and has nothing to do with the "Custom appearance group" trim package. This was your basic work truck, black rubber mat, basic vinyl pattern and trim. steel door panels (71), plain plastic door panels (72).

Custom Deluxe - Color keyed rubber mats, and included chrome trim around glass and on knob centers, upgraded vinyl on seats, scroll pattern on vinyl door panels (71), or scroll pattern with chrome trim on plastic panels (72).

Cheyenne - Headliner, carpet, woodgrain trim on door panels, special insulation, padded vinyl seat covers, in addition to Custom Deluxe stuff.

Cheyenne Super - Woodgrain trim on glove box, ashtray and gauge bezel, chrome tailgate handle cover, in addition to Cheyenne package.

CST, was the pre-71 designation for the Cheyenne trim level. This is not an exhuastive list, just what I could recall off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more nuances to be found.

Trim packages had no correllation to other high-end options like engines, transmissions, a/c, pb, ps, tilt, am/fm, bucket seats, etc. Basically you could order a Custom/10 with more convenience options than a stripper Cheyenne Super by ticking off the option boxes on the order form.

The 10, 20, or 30 relates to the 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1 ton.

So if you have "Custom/10" badges you have a Custom 1/2 ton.
Custom/20 with "Deluxe" under it, is a 3/4 ton Custom Deluxe.
Cheyenne/30 is a 1 ton Cheyenne.
Cheyenne/10 with "Super" under it, is a 1/2 ton Cheyenne Super.
