I had driven a K1500 from the early '90's with a 4.3 TBI. It was respectable. Had enough booty to take out a guy who was trying to cut me off. I think you'll be happy for driving purposes.

The interesting thing was, I also drove a 4.3 TPI S10. It seemed to have less power. That is probably to do with gearing though.

I also agree on a higher (Numerical) gear. With the over-drive tranny you can run a 3.73 fine, and a 4.10 if you want the extra pep.
