Like Tx Firefighter said, cab & chassis one tons had the 14 bolt, duallies had the Dana 70HD until '93 or '94, and after that they had the 14 bolt also. 4.10's were very common in one tons. My '90 R3500 single wheel one ton crew cab has the 3.42's with the 454 & TH400, and it pulls my 5th wheel camper with no problem. I have an '82 dually bed & rear end to make it a dually, but the rear end is the Dana 70HD with 4.10 gears. I really like my 3.42's, so I've been looking around for the later 14 bolt wide axle so I can keep my same gears & limited slip diff. I'll have to move the spring perches and shock brackets because the '93 up frames were wider, but it can be done.
