I assume you're talking about the upper and lower molding. You can repair it yourself but it takes a whole lot of time and patience.
Here is a before and after shot of mine. I used a screen door roller to remove the big dents and a sander to smooth them out. After that, I used a buffing wheel to restore the shine. You can have them re-anodized but a less expensive alternative is to coat the bare aluminum with a good grade of automotive clear coat.
