There are a few of us that have done different things. I used to run a ram-air box on my GMC stepside. Here is a picture of my GMC stepside with ram-air the day I ended up taking it off. On the GMCs there is a hole through the core support and I just put the tubes through. I moved the high/low beams to the inside and ran a screen where the other headlights would have been. On a Chevy, you don't have the extra hole to use and you would have to route the tubes elsewhere.

NSANE68!!! has a site where he sells a different style cold air intake. Probably the one that would work better than a ram-air box on your 69 Chevy.
