I have exactly the same issue. I was going to attempt the cardboard trick but unless I misunderstand the situation, how would cardboard help if the engine temperature does not even get to 180 degrees to open the thermostat and circulate the coolant? In that case, what is keeping the engine so cool? Just air circulating around it?
