J, seeing as you are planning on changing the major components anyway, I would change it over to 134. Be aware the oil is different than R12 uses and if you get a new compressor you may need close to 10 OZ's in a brand new system. The R134 oil is called PAG oil. R12 oil and PAG oil are NOT compatable, SO, your going to have to change the reciever\drier and flush out the evaporator with brake clean followed by alcohol and then blow it dry with compressed air. I would change the drier and flush the evaporator no matter which path I took. jim
