If your going to Auto Zone see if they don't have a oil pressure test gauge in their loan-a-tool program, Most do.

Go ahead and pick up a new sending unit while your there, You have to remove it anyway for testing. If you find good pressure on the test gauge install the new sender and check your dash gauge, If you find low pressure with the test gauge take the new sender back for a refund.

For the brake line, Don't use a furrel type fitting, They should also have a brake line double flaring tool in the loan-a-tool program as well then use a steel coupler. And yes the brakes will have to be bled afterwards....
