From everything I've seen they come with airfilters.....?
If that guy was racing without a fitler he probably had no business on the track.... Plus if you only got half or 144th of it sticking through the hood your not dragging air or going to catch any 'birds'
You'll probably get just enough cool air without sacrificing drag. Now if you running a blower that's different.
