You are correct, the shock like you have pictured at the bottom is the replacment for the factory setup using the GM brackets you already have on your axle. The Rancho double stem setup is more of a universal application, it comes with its own brackets. I dont know why rancho does this...I'll bet they have a double eye 50/50 shock that will work on our trucks but you may have to find a parts guy that can do some digging for you to find it.
I have run and like the Monroe Magnum stabilizers, if your not stuck on having a rancho you might try one of these part numbers. SA1933 SC2916
