Re: universal 4 link

I got mine from suicide doors, and have had good luck with it. The mounting tabs were made for MY diameter axel, so other than beveling the edges there was no grinding to fit needed. Also, they made it the link bars for the lengths I specified, so no cutting down and retapping the threads was needed either, nor did I have to compromise my mounting points on my frame in order to make the bars work. The one thing I did have to change was my bag mounts on my frame, but that was totally my fault because one we got it in, we decided to mount all my link bars inboard so I could eventually run a 12 or 14 inch wide rim in the rear. We hacked up the mounts they sent me and made our own, but even that was not a really big deal.

I can tell you this, you do get what you pay for. Their kits are beefy, probably a little overkill. I had a friend of mine that drag races come help me set the pinion angles, and the entire tiem he just could not believe how beefy the link bars and tabs were. He kept saying "I build drag cars with 800+ horsepower, adn the 4 links we put on them arent near this tough looking!" I look at it this way, Im not just making a couple passes down a straight track at 1/8 or 1/4 a mile at a lime, Im driving mine all over the place, putting a few thousand miles a year on it. Overbuilt a little bit is just fine with me, as I dont want to have to redo it again anytime soon.

I guess what Im saying is unless you are buying a rear kit that is MADE for your truck, like the ones Porterbuilt, Suicide Doors, KP Components, ART, ect, I would save up the cash and get one custom built for your application. You will get a better fitting product, better quality materials, and have less work and headaches with your install. If you decide a custom built 4 link instead of a bolt on kit for your truck, I would highly reccomend giving Nate at Porterbuilt Streetrods or Jason at Suicide Doors a call.
