Wet acid batteries of comparable group size & ratings generally have a higher CCA rating than AGMs. The idea behind both Gel and AGM batteries is to suspend the electrolyte for a more even charge. The downside is although they both have a great ability to hold a charge longer than a wet acid battery they do not charge as well being fully drained. The benefits to AGM batteries are better vibration resistance, longer Amp Hours and they can be mounted in various positions.
