I think the problem may be in that 67-70 hoods and front fenders are different than the 71-72 series.

Maybe a 71 or 72 hood is in order to mate up with the 71 fenders?

I'm no pro (and continually here learning stuff to fix up my own '71 short fleet) so hopefully someone else with more knowledge will respond and correct me if I'm wrong.
