Let me put it to you this way - in my '07 Dodge Ram 2WD CCSB that had the 5.9L Cummins & G56 manual (with numerous mods) I was putting a tad over 425hp & 863ft/lbs to the ground. I had a set of CalTrac bars on it & wider than stock tires - launching it at about 3,200rpm on 3rd I could walk away from a lot of vehicles on the street - especially the obnoxious little imports!!!
Your truck when finished will be a LOT lighter than this one was, so you won't need near that much power. You can VERY easily get 450hp at the crank out of a 383 & it'll feel VERY fast!!! It'll throw you back in the seat too!!!
