I'd save your big bucks for a top notch vertical and start looking for a small, industrial, used horizontal.
The horizontals are so durable that they are still widely available, in very usable condition, for pennies
on the dollar. Not as versatile as a vertical but you can chuck up your part, turn on the coolant,
set the feed and walk away.
