I'm still worried about the cross-member. Yeah, that hitch, if you want to call it that, may be keeping the bottom of the frame rails from moving, but there's nothing keeping the top of the frame rails from flexing inwards with the weight of the truck on suspension, except the bed bolts.
No offense, but the comment that was made about safety on page 1 is incorrect. If you're putting other motorist's safety at risk, then NO, you don't have the right to build the truck any way you wish.
