A couple of options would be a 12 bolt from a Chevy, a Dana 44 from a GMC 4x4 or a 14 bolt semi-float from a later GM vehicle. A 2wd 14 bolt is 3" narrower than a 4x4 rear axle. Not sure about the 88-98 axle pad width right now, but could measure it for you if your interested. The semi-float 14 bolt would be the strongest, but the closest stock axle ratio would be a 3.42. Another option could be a Jeep Cherokee Chief Dana 44 since they are wider than a Wagoneer rear axle. You could consider a disc brake conversion on the Dana 60 that may solve your drum issue. Did you look on Jollys 60/66 GMC website for any info on the brakes? I looked at info on there the other day and did see the availability of the Dana 60 rear axle in your application.
